Consultations with private sector in the context of the process of working out the Strategy of Uzbekistan population welfare improvement

Aims and objectives: For the purpose of working out the effective mechanisms of constructive dialog broadening and general public participation in the process of working out, realization and monitoring of the Strategy of population welfare improvement execution in the period from 16 to 20 April 2007, was held number of meetings with participation of key ministries and departments, representatives of the republic of Uzbekistan, private sector, institutes of civil society, mass media and other interested parts.

Questions: At present by government of the republic of Uzbekistan was initiated work on the preparation of the Strategy of population welfare improvement of the Republic of Uzbekistan. SWPI appealed to be strategic document, defining key goals and tasks of the country’s development, general directions of the policy and concrete instruments of put priorities achievement. Development of the project SIPW will be carried out by sector working groups consisting from representatives of key ministries and departments, national analytical centers, private sector and civil society. At the same time in the work are used results of national and sector research and analytical workings, recommendations worked out with the taking into account different interested parties. For rendering consultative and methodological support to SWG were also attracted competent international experts. Active support to the Government in that process was provided by UNDP, World bank and Asian development bank. This support is rendered in the context of UNDP’s project “Support to the processes of working out the strategy PWI of the republic of Uzbekistan”. Supposed that stated during upcoming consultations opinions and suggestions will allow to work out detailed program of the activities on realization of the process participation in the context of further development, realization and monitoring fulfillment of SPWI.
