Business forum for discussing concept of the project’s report: “Public - private partnership in Uzbekistan”

Aims and objectives: on January 16, 2007 in the Center for economic research was conducted business forum, devoted to the discussion of the project report of the concept “Public - private partnership in Uzbekistan: strengthening the role of private sector in rendering services for public benefit”. On the business forum participated: research coordinators of the Center for economic research, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic of Uzbekistan, Ministries, departments and social institutions and private sector.

Questions: Taking into account development of PPP in Uzbekistan, on the discussion of EC was submitted project report of the concept. Participants of the business forum underlined that issue of development of PPP is relevant as for the government, so for private companies too. At present, there already PPP, by means of making contract between state and private enterprises, as an example, “Agreement on division of the output”. It was noted that private companies can participate in the PPP project in definite sphere of rendering services of social and infrastructural importance, if such participation will be worthwhile from the point private companies commercial interests.
